A cyclist from Midland was killed in a motor vehicle-on-bicycle accident between Alpine and Marathon last week.

Rene Ulmschneider, 60, was traveling east on Highway 90 when he was struck from behind by a 2008 silver Kia SUV driven by Lesly Lammons, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Elizabeth Barney.

The accident occurred at 2:15 p.m. Friday, July 20, near mile marker 290 east of Alpine. Lammons, of Alpine, was charged with intoxication manslaughter, a second degree felony, and gave a breath sample at the Brewster County Jail, Barney said.
