Nine new members will be inducted into the Sul Ross State University Rodeo and ANRS Exes Hall of Fame when the organization holds its 35th annual reunion July 29-31.

New inductees will include Marty Acton, Ira Roy Akers, Lank Creacy, Betty and John Finegan, Jack M. Fletcher, Mary Ellen and Keesey Kimball, and Sam Little. Acton, Akers, Keesey Kimball and Little will be inducted posthumously.

Reunion events begin July 29 with a 6 p.m. social at the Granada Theatre and Saddle Club, 211 E. Holland, Ave. in Alpine.

Books open at 8 a.m. July 30 for roping at the SALE Arena, located at the Turner Range Animal Science Center on E. Hwy. 90. Events will include an open barrel race, goat roping, breakaway roping, ribbon roping, exes team roping and family team roping.

An all-around arena champion will be selected based on the highest placing individual in all arena events. Custom-made saddles will be presented to the high money header and high money heeler in the exes team roping.

A business meeting will be held at noon July 30. At 2 p.m., a Texas hold ‘em poker tournament will begin at the Granada. The Hall of Fame induction dinner will be served at 6 p.m. in the Granada, with ceremonies to start around 6:30. At 9 p.m., a buckle presentation and dance will begin at the Granada, with music by The Shades.

A golf tournament, beginning at 8 a.m. July 31 at Alpine Country Club, will conclude formal reunion events.
