Freeze took its toll on cypress trees

Body
Dear Neil: Is there anything that can be done to help Italian cypress trees that have gradually been turning brown over the past several weeks? Is this because of the cold? I’ve been seeing this from all over the state. Yes, it’s from freeze injury, and it has taken the plants a while to display it.

Sagebrush Café in Fort Stockton

Body
Not too long ago on a trip through Fort Stockton, we stopped at our favorite place to eat when we’re in that neck of the woods - the Sagebrush Cafe. We’ve eaten there a half dozen times, and it’s always been a pleasant experience. The parking lot was packed since it was lunchtime, but we figured it was worth it to know what we were getting into for lunch. No false rave reviews for this place.

New signs provide info for tourists and locals

Alpine visitors and residents may have noticed two new additions to popular spots around town – informational signs about the history of Murphy Street and the trails on Hancock Hill behind Sul Ross State University. The signs are recently completed projects by the City of Alpine in partnership with Brewster County and the university.
