On Nov. 6 Alpine Lions Club held its first annual golf tournament at Alpine Country Club with proceeds benefitting Lions Club activities in the community. Finishing in first place were Eduardo Barraza, Miggy Vega, Chris Martínez, and George Bradley. In second place were Jerry Reinberg, Alonso Adame, Tony Molinar, and JJ Alvarado; and in third place, Blake Moody, Sam Nicholas, Randy Sanchez, and Daniel Platt. Nov. 11, Veterans Day, is a day set aside to show appreciation for all who have served in the military. More than just a national holiday, Veterans Day is a celebration to honor those who proudly served, and were willing to sacrifice for the common good.

Mexican national sentenced for illegal reentry

A Mexican national was sentenced on Oct. 27 to over eight years in prison for illegally entering the U.S. On July 19 Graciano Moral-Carrillo, aka Franciso Mora-Carillo, 52, of Mexico was found guilty by a federal jury of one count of illegal reentry.
