The Alpine City Council held its last regular meeting of 2025 on Tuesday with a packed house. Mayor Pro Tem Rick Stephens presided over the meeting, and Alpine Mayor Catherine Eaves attended via Zoom.

Franks, Hamilton, and Hutchings are familiar names at Sul Ross. Although a few years have passed since three of the top performers in professional rodeo sat in the classroom or spent an afternoon in the S.A.L.E. Arena at practice with their former Sul Ross Rodeo Coach C.J. Aragon.

The one-and-only Archie Sullivan Gill completed his final road trip on October 31, 2025. Arch was 84 years old and a long-time member of the Terlingua community.

Following the excitement of the first annual Wilson-Stice Invitational on November 21-22, the Alpine High School girls varsity basketball team faced a quick turnaround that tested its depth, endurance, and resolve.

The Alpine High School boys’ varsity basketball team didn’t lose its edge during the Thanksgiving break. After their scheduled Monday, November 24, matchup with Marfa was canceled, the Fightin’ Bucks had a full week to rest, reset, and sharpen their game. When they returned to the court on Tuesday, December 2, against Van Horn, they looked every bit like a team on a mission.
