The Bible is the only book that claims to have been written by God. Bible verses that teach this include II Timothy 3:16-17, which says: 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. (New American Standard Updated). The New Testament was first written by God in the Greek language. And, the words “inspired by God” are just one word in the Greek text, which is “theopneustos”. If we translated it literally, it comes out “breathed out by God”. So, when the prophets of the Old Testament and the Apostles of the New Testament wrote the Bible, they were writing exactly what God was speaking out. Second Timothy 3:16 is the only place in the New Testament where it says that Scripture (the holy writings) was “inspired by God” or “breathed out by God”.
