The Alpine Middle School tennis team held its District tournament on Saturday at the courts on the Sul Ross campus. The 7th- and 8th-grade teams earned the District 4- 3A title against Kermit.

For the second year in a row, Marathon ISD’s Ms. Pamela Hernandez has been chosen by her peers as the 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year.

House bill proposes new standardized test A Texas House bill would eliminate the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness test and replace it with a test comparing students’ performance to one another rather than state-set standards, the Austin American- Statesman reported.

The Paisano Girls’ Mission Camp will be held this year, June 2-6, at the Davis Mountain Resort Baptist Church just west of Fort Davis. Due to the rising cost of food, this year’s camp will cost $125 per person, including counselors. The camp will have the same Bible study format, missions time, music, style show, tea party, and other favorite activities. Girls who finished second through sixth grade are invited to be campers, and girls who finished seventh through 12th grade are invited to be junior counselors. On the list of additional activities are movies, board games, talent spotlight, and more.
