Body The Alpine Middle School 7th and 8th grade tennis teams traveled to Fort Stockton this past Saturday for the Middle School Comanche Classic Tennis Tournament. Roman Holguin placed second in the boys’ 7th grade singles after falling to Abell Jr High in the Championship match 1-6.

Body Dear Neil, I have a nice crop of Jersey Giant asparagus plants that I planted three years ago. Last year, they produced red berries that I ignored. I have since read that I should have cut those stems out when the seeds appeared.

Body Senate backs prayer time, Ten Commandments in classrooms The Texas Senate last week passed a bill to allow school districts to set aside time for in-school prayer and gave initial approval to requiring all schools to post a copy of the Ten Commandments in every classroom.

Body The College of Agriculture, Life and Physical Sciences (ALPS) at Sul Ross State University will host 164 4-H and FFA members from across the region on Wednesday, April 2, to compete in five separate Career Development Events (CDEs).
