Lady Lobos score back-to-back wins in Houston

The Sul Ross Lady Lobos basketball team hit the road on Saturday with back-to-back games scheduled in Houston against Schreiner University at noon on Saturday and an afternoon game on Sunday against the University of St. Thomas. Both games were played at the Jerabeck Activity and Athletic Center.

Lobo men off to a good start

The Sul Ross Lobo men’s basketball team is off to a great start on the season, with two exhibition games completed and four wins in their pocket. After an exhibition game against New Mexico State University in Las Cruces to begin the season, the Lobos hit the road to Hobbs to take on the Mustangs of the University of the Southwest where they eeked out a win with a score of 70-67.

Dec. 1-2 Alpine Historic Commission Holiday Event, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday the Wassail Crawl followed immediately by the tree lighting at the Brewster County courthouse. The tour of historic homes begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday and continues until 4:30 p.m. There is a $25 charge for the home tour with proceeds benefiting this event for next year. At 5:30 p.m. the annual Christmas Stroll up Sul Ross Ave. will begin with music from student bands and will conclude at the Vaquero House at 208 N. WEEK Alpine Humane Society Pet of the Week is Champ. Fun and fancy-free is the motto Champ lives by. This guy is quite the hoot. A husky mix, he came in with his two brothers at just three months old, and we swear they have not stopped playing since they got here.

It’s that time of year again when downtown Marathon celebrates the Christmas season with carolers, Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and more. The sidewalks lining U.S. Hwy 90 will be full of visitors and locals alike taking in the grandly decorated business fronts, food and beverage options, live music, and other community offerings.
