The Alpine ISD board of trustees held their regularly scheduled meeting on June 21 at 5:30 p.m., followed by a special called meeting held on June 28 in the board room of the AISD administration building.
A new board, the Alpine Emergency Services Board, colloquially referred to as the Alpine Fire department, has been established to oversee the emergency services for the area. The seven-member board is made up of local citizens and is a joint effort between the city and the county.
Marilyn Shackelford, 82, and a Marathon native, began dancing at the Post in 1945 at age four. Coincidentally, her first dance was with her long-time beau and husband Macky Shackelford, who was five at the time of their first dance.
