SENIOR SPOTLIGHT

Body
In what activities did you participate in high school? I was a member of the marching band, so I spent a lot of time at football games. I am also in solo and ensemble in band and I will be playing tennis soon.
What was your favorite moment the last four years? My favorite moments would be during band and tennis because both activities are competitive as well as creative and the people are friendly and understanding. What are your plans after high school? I want to study animation after I graduate. My preference would be to study at Montserrat College of Art. Creating art and being able to develop animations to inspire and amuse people is what I want to do for a living. Madison Mendoza

Timing is everything with pre-emergents

Body
Dear Neil: We applied the pre-emergent as you recommended last spring. It helped a great deal with this year’s lawn through the summer (until the drought). We intended to apply it again two weeks before the average date of the first killing freeze this fall, as per your book, but we had an early first freeze and never got it down until recently. Have we wasted our money?
