JASE GRAVES Guest Columnist East Texas is hot, and not in the way you compliment your wife when she’s mad at you for performing an epic cannonball while she’s lounging by the pool with her laptop. For the past few weeks, Texas (and much of the world) has been suffering through a distressing phenomenon known as summer, that time of year when we all remember what it’s like being toddlers walking around with drenched undergarments.

World conditions Prior to 2020 our world conditions were improving as wars were being contained, global poverty was reduced, clean air and water increased, life expectancy was higher, child mortality was reduced, climate related deaths were lower, illiteracy was reduced, and U.S. borders were in a more controllable state.

And so the name Alpine came to be

From the creation of the first transcontinental railroad, the combined Union Pacific and Central Pacific, there were multiple plans to interlace the country through all its regions, north and south. The major players in western railroads were the Big Four who built the Central Pacific and went on the control the Union Pacific - Collis P. Huntington, Leland Stanford, Mark Hopkins, and Charles Crocker.
And so the name Alpine came to be

Chisos Basin campgrounds closed in national park

Chisos Basin Campground and Chisos Basin Group Campground in Big Bend National Park are closed to public use until further notice. This emergency closure is due to significantly increased bear activity within the campground area.

Alpine City Council discusses water well issues

The City of Alpine held its regularly scheduled council meeting on Aug. 16, and water well issues, a proposed budget and property tax update, and a proposed noise ordinance were the main topics of discussion. Council, Ward 3, Sara Tandy was absent.
