Assistant Coach Monica Salmon filled in admirably for Head Coach Rick Garcia as the Lady Bucks collected their first district win, 73-6. Shooting guard Novah Carrasco had a career-high 29 points, and Salmon’s zone pressure befuddled the Lady Cats from the opening tip-off. The Lady Cats struggled to even get the basketball across mid-court on a night when nothing was going for them.

The Alpine Lady Bucks on Jan. 11 bested the Presidio Blue Devils in Presidio, 40-27.

What are you especially looking forward to in your senior year? For senior year I’m most excited to actually walk the stage during graduation instead of watching everyone do it. What activities are you involved in during your senior year? During my senior year I’ve been a part of the band, National Honor Society, athletic training, and debate.

With the quick spread of Omicron, I will start wearing my mask despite the fact that I have received all three vaccines. I ask that you practice good health habits and stay safe.

The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to consider what will be important in the year ahead. As an officer of Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, that means thinking about the long-term success of the cattle industry.

Making connections with other professionals is an important component of growing in a career in any field. Knowing people through business mixers and networking events are excellent ways to meet like-minded people and develop contacts, all while socializing and building relationships.

On Dec. 6 a Brewster County deputy conducted a traffic stop in Marathon that resulted in the apprehension of five illegal aliens from Mexico, and one U.S.

Restoring historic buildings connects people to the past, and reminds them of past events. The Texas Historical Commission is focused on enabling communities around the state to achieve this.
