A tale of two Jeff Davis’s

Body
After the Civil War, the men who served in the Union armies created a veteran’s organization, the Grand Army of the Republic. GAR posts were created anywhere veterans lived, including Fort Davis, where most of the members were serving military. Their organization was called the Jeff Davis Post, but not named after the man they deemed a traitor to their country, Jefferson F. Davis, former President of the Confederacy. Their post was named for Jefferson C. Davis, Union general and military governor of Alaska.

Calling all chocolate lovers to the dessert table

Body
Like most women, I love chocolate. I am generally not particular about what form it comes in either. Candy, fudge, cake, pie - I am happy with all of it. So recently when I was scrolling the internet as I am wont to do on a regular basis, I came upon a recipe that made my heart beat faster, and my salivary glands kick into high gear. In fact, I was really surprised I had not stumbled across this recipe before.

Poinsettias can bloom again

Body
Dear Neil: I thought you might like to see that your advice does pay off. This is a poinsettia that we bought in November 2020, enjoyed that winter, and then nurtured into rebloom this past Christmas 2021 as per your instructions posted here. Thanks for the guidance. It really worked!
