On Sept. 24 the Rio Grande Council of Governments held its annual meeting where its general membership approved the organization’s Annual Work Program and Budget of $8.88 million. The general membership also approved an installation of officers and directors.

Corliss Jean Hill George, 77, of Belton, Texas, passed away on Sept. 26, 2021, at Baylor, Scott and White in Temple, Texas.

Kay Evans Stovell of Alpine, Texas, passed into the arms of Jesus on Sept. 30, 2021. She was 81 years young, and surrounded by family in Abilene, Texas. Kay was born in Roswell, N.M., on Aug. 27, 1940.

James “Jim” Wallace Ponton, 64, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away while surrounded by loved ones in Dallas, Texas, on Sept. 26, 2021.

The oldest intact structure in Big Bend National Park is getting much needed protection thanks to a preservation project funded by Big Bend Conservancy.
