PET OF THE WEEK

Body
Alpine Humane Society Pet of the Week is Fred. Fred and Wilma are two perfect 5-month-old siblings, and they are kittens that rock! They love to romp, play and snuggle. Although Fred is the more outgoing of the two, Wilma does not let Fred’s personality get ahead of hers.

Deputy detains illegals

On July 30, a Brewster County deputy patrolling south of Marathon conducted a vehicle stop for a traffic violation. During the encounter, he observed five passengers who had entered the U.S. from Mexico illegally, and had been picked up by the driver. Dear Neil: What would be causing the spots on the leaves of my pothos? It was given to me as a gift years ago by a student following my first year of teaching. I want to keep it healthy.

Life in the time of Quinoa

Body
I first became interested in quinoa as a rice substitute when cooking for a friend who is not supposed to have rice in their diet. I had a large amount of frozen broccoli, and decided to substitute it for rice in a broccoli rice casserole recipe. It worked extremely well, and at this point I decided to try out other ways I could manipulate this pseudo cereal into my diet.

The law of prayer

Body
Some of you may be familiar with the Latin maxim lex orandi, lex credendi. Translated it means the law of prayer is the law of belief. What we pray ultimately shapes our belief. What you believe about God will also shape the disposition of your prayer life.
