The Alpine Chamber of Commerce is a member based organization that promotes and supports the local business community. With over 250 members, the Alpine Chamber of Commerce acts as a resource of information for its members, the community, and relocation inquirers. It communicates business related issues and advocates on the behalf of its members. The chamber operates networking and educational programs all for the sake of building a stronger community and a greater quality of life. The purpose of this organization shall be to advance the civic, commercial, industrial and professional welfare of the City of Alpine and the Counties of Brewster, Presidio and Jeff Davis, State of Texas; to actively promote and support a healthy and vigorous business environment for the benefit of the community; to provide stability for existing businesses and residents; and to encourage new businesses, residents and tourism to the community.

Erminia Covarrubias, 73, of Alpine, Texas, passed away at Odessa Medical Center on March 5, 2018.
One of Texas’ most wanted sex offenders was taken into custody March 8 by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Presidio port of entry with the help of Mexican law enforcement officials. He was then turned over to the U.S. Marshal Service.
The Big Bend Region of West Texas is known for its many and beautiful historic buildings. Hotel Lympia, Hotel Paisano, the Gage Hotel, and Alpine’s very own Holland Hotel are nationally recognized for their Spanish architecture, Western-chic décor, and rich histories. Despite their beautiful aesthetics, however, some of these buildings have dark, sordid pasts.
Robert “Bobby” Edwin Sanders, of Alpine, Texas, passed away on Feb. 17, 2018, after a prolonged illness. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Sanders of Alpine and numerous family members and lifelong friends.
