District play begins Jan. 4 for Alpine with back-to-back challenging road games in Anthony and Tornillo. Before those big tests arrive however, the Lady Bucks (5-7) will take on four or five teams at the 60^th annual Caprock Tournament in Lubbock Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 27-29. For them the three day event begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Coronado High School gym against the Morton Indians, a 1A school with a sizeable roster.  

“We’ve played a lot. We’ve played some big opponents,” Head Coach Bridgett Gonzales said about their lighter schedule as of late. “I think what we have set up going in to the Christmas break is good for us. I think we’re going to be able to freshen up our legs and be ready to go for Caprock. In the past we’ve been jam-packed, but having a more relaxed week will freshen up our minds.”
