On Monday, December 3, students from the Honors Club at Sul Ross State University raised $61 dollars, along with donating toiletries to the Family Crisis Center of the Big Bend (FCCBB). The Honors Club held a toiletry drive at Sul Ross collecting items such as soaps, shampoo and conditioners, body wash, toothpaste, tooth brushes, deodorant, and handmade bags.

Dr. Kathy Stein, advisor and director of the Honors Club and the Sul Ross Honors Program, handmade several small bags to be given to clients of FCCBB.

The Honors Club sold “Love Shouldn’t Hurt” ribbons around campus at $1 each to be worn in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness month throughout the month of October.

The Honors Club joined with the FCCBB to promote awareness through a workshop called Love Shouldn’t Hurt on October 15 followed by a Candlelight Vigil, a walk held every year by the FCCBB beginning at Sul Ross and ending at the Courthouse.

This is the third year the Honors Club has participated and promoted Domestic Violence Awareness to students and the second year for a toiletry drive on the Sul Ross campus.
