Ramon “Mon” V. Lujan

Ramon “Mon” V. Lujan, 67, of Alpine, Texas went to be with the Lord, on Jan. 10, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas after a long, hard battle with cancer.

Ramon was born to Ramon M. and Maria Valenzuela Lujan on Dec. 16, 1951. He was a lifelong resident of Alpine. He graduated from Alpine High School in 1971. He was a stand out in football and track.

Upon graduation, he found his passion in cars and was an auto mechanic for 40-plus years. He held several positions at auto dealerships here in Alpine, and worked for Sul Ross State University and with the City of Alpine from where he retired in 2013.

He is survived by his sons Ramon E. Lujan of San Antonio, Texas, Jesse Lujan of Phenix City, Alabama and his daughter, Lorrie Cobos of Alpine, sister Mary Alice Gallegos of San Antonio, brother Tony Lujan of Alpine; four grandsons Diego, Sergio, Anthony, and Myles; four granddaughters Raquel, Dominique, Zaydrien, and Hayden; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia Hernandez, parents Ramon and Maria Lujan, brother Frank Bustamante, and nephew Frankie Cobos.

Funeral arrangements are still pending under the direction of M.E. Rodriguez Funeral Home in San Antonio. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to make a donation in his memory to the American Cancer Society or Our Lady of Peace Knights of Columbus Council 5096.


Lady Bucks knocked out of District

The lone senior on the 2019 Lady Buck softball team was catcher and captain Macy Molsbee. She was joined in the festivities by her mother Jackie and her father Bennie on Senior Night in Alpine on April 15.
