Ermelinda “Linda” Rivera Carmon, 71, passed away on Dec. 9, 2018 at her home in Alpine, Texas. She was born on June 20, 1947 in Alpine to Ezequiel G. and German R. Rivera.

Linda graduated from Alpine High School in 1967 and upon graduation, attended the University of North Texas in Denton. She spent time in California before moving to Odessa, Texas where she worked at the unemployment office.

She married her best friend and soul mate, the love of her life, John Mitchell Caron, on July 5, 1975 at the Wishing Well Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Linda assisted him in his dental profession, making acrylic partials and dentures, until his passing on March 12, 1994. She continued to work in Denton, and returned to Alpine to take care of her parents as they slowly began their journeys to eternal life.

After her mother passed away on July 19, 2007 and her father passed away on Aug. 3, 2008, Linda continued to live her life in Alpine. She spent her time enjoying visits with her relatives and friends. She stayed in touch with her close friends in Indiana, and dreamed of moving there someday. She had a knack for being quite the chatterbox, but to all who knew her, those talks were a huge blessing to her. Through her years, she devoted her time and energy to her companions and beloved “kids,” her cats Twinkle Toes, Shiloh, Mama Rascal, Puddin, Punkin, and Socks.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her beloved aunt Maria Elena Urquieta of Odessa, and beloved cousin, Lupe Rodriguez of Alpine. She is survived by her brother, Dr. Ezequiel R. Rivera and wife Drakmai (Flo) of Chelmsford, Massachusetts; her nephew, Jonathan A. Rivera of Oakland, California; her aunt, Mrs. Dolores U. Rivera of Seminole, Texas; and numerous cousins.

Those who fondly cherish her memory include Rosa Urquieta Garcia and her son, Jesse Urquieta Garcia of Odessa; Maria Luisa (Lulu) Rivera-Lotito of Odessa; Arturo Rivera of Midland, Texas; Sara Portillo of Denton; Rachel Miller of Abilene, Texas; Virginia (Sugar) Bellew of Big Spring, Texas; and her goddaughter, Nancy Dominguez of Alpine.

A rosary and memorial service are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine. Interment will follow at Holy Angels cemetery in Alpine. Pallbearer will be Jesse Garcia of Odessa and honorary pallbearer in absentia is her nephew, Jonathan Rivera.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Linda’s name to the Grand Companions Humane Society, P.O Box 1156, Fort Davis, Texas 79734.

Alpine Memorial Funeral Home was entrusted with her services. Online condolences may be made at
