Antonio “Tony” A. Benavidez

Antonio “Tony” A. Benavidez, 56, of Wagon Mound, New Mexico closed his eyes to his earthly home, and opened his eyes to glorious beauty of his heavenly home on Dec. 28, 2018. 

Tony was born on June 5, 1962 in Alpine, Texas to Willie Benavidez, Sr., and Petra (Acosta) Benavidez.

Praying of the Most Holy Rosary was held on June 1, 2019 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine, followed by Mass of Christian Burial, with Father Hector Chicas serving as celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Angels Cemetery.

Those serving as urn ark bearers were Tony D. Benavidez, Michael Martinez, Juan Castaneda, Jr., and Paublo Gonzales, Jr.

Tony was a plumber by trade, and enjoyed all the wonderful people that he met during his time. He enjoyed riding horses, fast cars, and the great outdoors.

Tony was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Those left to honor and cherish the memory of Tony are two sons, Tony Derrick Benavidez and James Michael Benavidez, and one daughter, Tiffany Benavidez; his parents Willie Benavidez, Sr., and Petra A. Benavidez; his brother and sisters, several grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Buck 7-on-7 advances to Sonora

Senior Julian Cano snags a pass in the 7-on-7 tournament finals against Crane on June 9 at Buck Stadium. Alpine won 33-14, and qualified for the State finals in College Station at the end of this month.
