New Iconostasis at St. Jonah

Posted: Thursday, May 9, 2013 1:09 pm

St. Jonah Orthodox Church is about to have its first Iconostasis. An Iconostasis is a wall of icons and religious paintings, in this case in the Byzantine style that is an integral part of the Orthodox Christian service. The word literally means icon stand in Greek. If something is in stasis it stands still preserved in time.

The Iconostasis was commissioned by Orthodox Arch priest John Filipovich to be built by Anglican priest Reverend Damien Grout. Grout is a carpenter by trade as well as a pastor for the Anglican Church.
