Paisano Baptist Encampment will hold its 92nd consecutive cowboy camp meeting beginning Sunday evening, July 22, and continuing through lunch on Friday, July 27.

Morning worship begins at 11 a.m. daily with the evening service nightly at 8 p.m. Choir Practice starts at 7 p.m. Supper is served in the dining shed at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

A highlight of the encampment will be a new piano. Paul Bright of Dallas will play the dedication concert on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Mitchell Tabernacle. Bright earned both his bachelors and masters degrees in music from Baylor University and has played the piano and organ in numerous churches.

Following the concert, a reception will honor Bright along with past and present Paisano missionaries. A Paisano Museum exhibit featuring the missionaries will be on display throughout the week. The 2012 missionary will be Major Andrew McIntosh, a U.S. Air Force chaplain who has been assigned to eight bases and has been deployed to Cyprus and Afghanistan.

Preaching will be Hulitt Gloer and Randel Everett. Dr. Gloer is completing his final year at Paisano. He currently serves as Professor of Preaching and Christian Scriptures at Truett Seminary, Baylor University, and interim pastor of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church in Waco.

Dr. Everett pastors First Baptist Church in Midland, and is preaching for the first time at Paisano. He previously served as executive director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas.

Tommy Brisco will teach the Bible study for his third and final year. Dr. Brisco is Provost and Chief Academic Officer for Hardin-Simmons University and formerly served as Dean of Logsdon Seminary in Abilene. Dr. Brisco is a specialist in biblical backgrounds and archaeology.

Jim Cleaveland, Minister of Worship and Media at First Baptist Church of El Paso, will lead the music again this year. Nancy Russell will be at the organ, with Paul Bright at the piano.

Afternoon recreation and other activities exercise the body and spirit and create deep friendships that last generations. Paisano encourages family togetherness and spiritual renewal. Nursery, preschool, children’s day camp, and youth programs occupy the mornings while adults have their own experiences.

Paisano Baptist Encampment is located in Paisano Pass, between Alpine and Marfa, in far West Texas. For more information, visit the website at
