TERLINGUA — Whitson Chile Products of Terlingua won two big awards at this year’s Zest Fest, a competition/showcase for bold and flavorful foods sponsored by Chile Pepper Magazine in Fort Worth.

In Zest Fest’s 13th anniversary Fiery Food Challenge, Whitson’s Terlingua Sweet Hots jalapen?o-flavored pickles took first place in the pickled peppers/pickles category. In the specialty category, Whitson’s Moist Chili Seasoning took second place.

“We received a grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture’s ‘Go Texan’ program for advertising this year, and one of the places we advertise is Chile Pepper,” said Sarah Whitson Bourbon, Whitson’s president.

For three days, Zest Fest draws people in the food business for sampling, cooking demonstrations, contests and sales. The doors then are open to the public, with attendance in the thousands. In the Fiery Food Challenge, prizes are awarded in dozens of categories.

Whitson’s products are available on the company’s website, www.whitsonschile.com, and in stores around Texas.
