Holiday closings
A number of federal, state, city, county and school offices have announced closures for the Christmas and New Year's holidays, as have banks. Here is a partial listing:
€ Alpine Independent School District: Early dismissal Friday (Dec. 21); schools closed all next week and Dec. 31-Jan. 4
€ Sul Ross State University: Closed Dec. 22-Jan. 1; mid-winter semester starts Jan. 2
€ Brewster County Courthouse: Closed Dec. 24-26; also Dec. 31 and Jan. 1
€ City of Alpine: *All city offices closed Dec. 24-26; also closed Jan. 1; next City Council meeting will be Jan. 8
€ Texas Department of Public Safety: DPS building closed Dec. 24-26; also closed Jan. 1
€ Driver's license office: Closed today (Dec. 20) through Dec. 26
€ U.S. District Court: Closed Dec. 24-25; also closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1
€ Fort Davis National Historic Site: Closed Dec. 24
€ Alpine Community Credit Union: Closed Dec. 25
€ Fort Davis State Bank: Close at noon Dec. 24, closed Dec. 25; also close at noon Dec. 31 and closed on Jan. 1
€ TransPecos Banks: Close at 1 p.m. Dec. 24, closed Dec. 25; also close at 1 p.m. Dec. 31 and closed on Jan. 1
€ West Texas National Bank: Close at noon Dec. 24, closed Dec. 25; also close at noon Dec. 31 and closed on Jan. 1
€ Alpine Avalanche: Closed Dec. 24-25 and on Jan. 1
* Police Department will be on duty and Water Department will be available for emergencies by contacting the Police Department
