BBAC exhibiting individual, group weave art

The Big Bend Arts Council presents "Weaving Community", a celebration of the art of weaving in its many forms.

The show consists of two parts: work by individual artists and a large interactive project that will be ongoing for the duration of this exhibit.

Members of the Big Bend Arts Council and others from the entire Big Bend community have submitted their "Power Songs" which are

woven into a wall-hanging. The "Power Songs" are evocative, deeply personal poems generated from an exercise by Tom Crockett from his book, The Artist Inside.

Everyone is invited to participate in this project.

If you would like to submit a "Power Song," the forms are available at the BBAC gallery, 117 N. 6th Street in Alpine.

The exhibit runs Feb. 17 to March 19.

Gallery hours are 1 to 5 p.m., Thursday through Sunday.

On Saturday, March 4, from 1 to 5 p.m., Jeanne Amis will be giving a basket weaving demonstration and will have baskets for sale.
